Welcome to the August 2009 issue of our newsletter
Walker Websites Ltd is a web design company, based in London. We offer free, friendly advice on topics such as: initial setup and cost, domain name and hosting, designing professional or personal websites, search engine optimisation, and maintaining your website.

You choose whether to maintain and update your own website or whether to pay a small charge for this to be done for you. You can do as much or as little of the work as you want ï¿½ itï¿½s up to you. We would be happy to discuss any requirements with you - with no obligation.

Google Maps

Google Maps is Google's free web-based mapping application. Google Maps are searchable and zoomable maps of the UK, US etc. You can find businesses, get directions, and even embed maps in your website. It allows you to find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions.

You can also download Google Maps for mobile to your phone, and never carry a paper map again. Google Maps on your phone makes it easy to:

Determine your current location with or without GPS
Get driving and transit directions
Get phone numbers and addresses for local businesses

Why not put your local business on the map and increase traffic to your website for free?

SiteReportCard

SiteReportCard is a free website optimisation tool. Just enter your website address (URL) and a summary results page will be produced, giving details of useful information such as broken links, HTML errors, load time, meta tag warnings, possible misspellings and total number of keywords. Each of these is given a ranking of 1-10/10.

This is a good way to see how your website could be improved. And it's free!
